If you are looking for traditional Spanish culture on the coast, then this is where you find it. Although the town has grown and developed rapidly, it has managed to retain its Spanish roots. The pretty old part of the town has a lovely central square, surrounded by beautiful cobbled lanes full of tapas bars, street cafes and little hidden shops.

The bars and restaurants are cheaper than further up the coast as well, but the quality is excellent especially if you are looking for authentic tapas and other traditional Spanish meat and seafood dishes. There is also a full range of international restaurants, so every taste is catered for.

The beaches of Estepona are wide and long, backed by a beautiful promenade and chiringuitos (beach bars) dotted all the way along. The promenade is full of life, with sport enthusiasts running or using the beachside gymnasiums, whole generations of families having an evening stroll, and children enjoying the various play areas.

The promenade leads all the way to the pretty port of Estepona, where more restaurants and bars can be found, plus a Sunday market. The port gets going at night, with its multitude of restaurants and small music bars that stay open late into the night. Great for young families who want to keep an eye on their teenagers!

Estepona is surrounded by country lanes and rustic fincas, and the mountains of the Sierra Bermeja rise up behind the town, providing some lovely places to walk and picnic.
