Are you looking to make Spain your permanent home? Good news, Brits wanting to become Spanish residents can still gain residency even after Brexit.
Spain's Non-Lucrative Visa allows non-EU citizens to live in Spain provided they are able to support themselves financially. It is used by those planning to retire to Spain and may become an option for British retirees and other people who do not plan to work in Spain after Brexit.
To qualify for the non-lucrative visa, you must have sufficient income from either investments, retirement income or income from work conducted in other countries. You will also need the relevant documentation for the application process, including your passport (valid for at least 1 year from submitting the application), Spanish health insurance and proof that you have the financial means to cover your living expenses.
The Spanish authorities may take up to three months to process your non-lucrative residence visa application, so it's important that you are prepared in advance.
If your application is accepted, you will need to enter Spain within the period that your visa is valid. Your passport will be stamped on arrival and you will need to apply for a Foreigner Identity Card within 1 month of your arrival in Spain.
